Want to add some sparkle to your holiday entertaining without breaking the bank? Make your own shimmering sugars in a rainbow of customized colors! All you need is sugar, food coloring and a few resealable plastic bags.

Make It: Pour about 1/3 cup decorating sugar (the coarse crystals) into a quart-sized resealable plastic bag. Add food coloring, one drop at a time (a little goes a long way!), until desired color is reached, sealing and shaking the bag to distribute the color between each addition. Remember that elementary school color wheel…blue and red makes purple, etc.

Use It:
Sprinkle onto sugar cookies before baking
Dust over ice cream in place of chocolate sprinkles
Decorate frosted cupcakes
Rim cocktail glasses
Coat the edges of sandwich cookies
