What’s for Breakfast? French Toast is Easy and Delicious!

French toast is a snap to make and it’s a great use for leftover French bread. Simply slice the bread before it gets too hard, and store in an airtight plastic bag until you’re ready to use it. For longer storage, freeze the slices and thaw for later.

Serve French Toast dusted with powdered sugar or garnish with fresh fruit in season. Pass the maple syrup.

French Toast
2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon sugar
Pinch of salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
8 slices French bread

In medium bowl, beat eggs with a fork until blended. Add milk, sugar, salt and nutmeg and beat with a fork to combine. In a skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Dip bread slices in egg mixture and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 1 to 2 minutes a side. Serve with maple syrup or jam. Makes 4 servings.
