Are you Ready for Some Football Food?

Maybe I can taste football season in the quickly cooling air, because I’ve been craving game day munchies 24/7. Inspired by the legendary combo of spicy wing sauce and cooling blue cheese dressing, I threw together this prize-worthy pizza using leftover rotisserie chicken. Given the crowd’s reaction, I’m betting that it’s the champ of your next tailgate party.

If you don’t have a pizza stone, an inverted baking sheet makes a great substitute. Use the method in this recipe to get a crisp, golden crust on any pizza.

Make Your Dough Stretch

Whether it’s from the freezer section at the supermarket or your local pizzeria, a ball of fresh pizza dough is easy to come by and makes the base of a fun and easy dinner. That is, if the dough behaves itself.

On the subject of dough stretching, our test kitchen director Tracey likes to tell the story of coaching her daughter through a “whose-kid-can-make- the-best-pizza” competition at a friend’s dinner party. With words that will be familiar to every parent, Tracey urged Margot to, “just stop touching it!” This hands-off approach paid off and Margot’s tender, evenly shaped pie took the cake.

It’s a Grilled Pizza Party!

One of the great injustices of apartment living is not having a grill. I’ve tried a few questionable substitutions, including a tailgating-esque fiasco on the fire escape. Beyond the obvious safety concerns, it’s just not fun to negotiate a window entrance with a platter of juicy burgers.

It simply is not summer without a real backyard ‘cue, so this past weekend I ventured to Jersey, usurped a friend’s grill and threw a make-your-own grilled pizza party.
