Thanksgiving in July…Hmmmmm?!!

While most folks are taking long weekends at the beach or enjoying a leisurely summer vacation, I am in a hot kitchen with both of my ovens on high…making Thanksgiving dinner.

Unfortunately every year, a handful of clients ask for Thanksgiving recipe development and photography during the biggest heat wave of summer. You can predict this and schedule your vacation or poolside retreat by it…you just have to give me a shout and ask when my deadline is for this unseasonably and untimely development.

So Stylish

If you ever see me in the grocery store I am the one who looks like I am having an OCD moment, picking through the produce aisle to find that one perfect-looking apple or trying to find that pear with personality.

Yes, that is what I get paid for and being slightly OCD or a perfectionist is actually a prerequisite and desirable in my occupation as a food stylist. No kidding!

There is a cut of beef that is so delicious and is becoming more available in national grocery stores that I need to share with you. Hanger steak is a boneless cut of beef that hangs between the rib and the short loin that is connected and supports the diaphragm.

I love to barbecue. Over the past 20 years I have pretty much grilled about anything, from whole turkeys to pizza and desserts.

The grills that I alternate between are two different-sized kettle grills and an oversized gas grill with rotisserie. It is a way to cook without too much fuss, time and cleanup. If you have a large gas grill, just heat one side when you’re not cooking for a crowd.
