Brown Bagging? Try a New Take on Tuna

David says dad’s tuna salad sandwiches are good, but with mom’s, you can feel the love! So I’m sharing how I put the “love” in every bite.

Canned tuna is the go-to sandwich filling in our house because it’s convenient and versatile. While the fillings below are meant for sandwiches, you could spread them on crackers for a quick snack or appetizer, or spoon some on dressed salad greens for a main dish salad.

A Simple Korean-inspired Stir-fry

Korean food is getting to be all the rage, with food trucks like Kogi in Los Angeles. Today’s video recipe is a simple, one-pot Korean-inspired dish: Korean Sti-Fry Chicken.

When cooking the chicken, be sure your pan and oil are hot. Don’t crowd the pad or the chicken will steam instead of fry -- cook in two batches if your pan isn’t large enough. And let the chicken sear on one side before tossing, to keep chicken from sticking to the pan.

It’s Easy to Make your own Sushi

While sushi at its most sophisticated is undeniably haute cuisine, at its simplest, sushi is just vinegared rice. It’s easy to make a simple sushi. You just heat a vinegar sauce, cook some rice and toss together. Then prep a few no-cook fillings and toast the nori sheets for wrappers. Arrange everything in bowls and platters and let everyone assemble their own sushi.

Vary the filling ingredients according to your taste and budget. To keep costs down, limit fillings to vegetables and imitation crab. For a splurge, add jumbo cooked shrimp, crab legs and sushi-grade raw fish.
